ArcelorMittal USA hikes steel plate by $100/ton

By Tom Stundza -- Purchasing, 3/19/2008 10:49:00 AM

H. Shelby Pixley, CEO of ArcelorMittal USA Plate, alerted customers this week of plans to boost the price of all carbon steel plate by $100/ton and alloy steel plate by $140/ton in May. In an e-mail announcing the price hike, Pixley points to “the strong domestic and global demand for plate products accompanied by increasing raw material costs.” This month’s sales price average for cut steel plate is $915/ton, according to subscription data source Purchasingdata.com and Platt’s Steel Markets Daily subscription newsletter.
