UPDATE: Linerboard price is on the rise

By Tom Stundza -- Purchasing, 2/27/2008 11:40:00 AM

All 7 major containerboard mills have fallen in line with a $50/ton price hike announced earlier this month by Smurfit-Stone Container and International Paper. A similar March price increase has since been announced by Georgia-Pacific, Temple-Inland, Packaging Corp. of America, Weyerhaeuser and Norampac. Based on a $555 market price average in January and February for kraft liner from buyer surveys by Purchasingdata.com, the price hike would bring linerboard above $600/ton for the first time ever.
