Suppliers boost prices of specialty chemicals

Eastman Chemical is increasing prices in April on isopropyl acetate chemicals by 3¢/lb in all world markets because increased market demand and higher operating costs, particularly in raw materials, energy and freight. DuPont Titanium Technologies is increasing the price in April of all its Ti-Pure-brand titanium dioxide grades sold in the Asia Pacific region (except Japan and China) by $120/ton. A price increase for Japan occurred this month and the prices in China will increase by 1.2 renminbi/kilogram, or 37¢/lb. Oxea Group will increase North American prices by 3¢/lb for butyl acetate, butanol, propyl acetate, and propanol. Solvay Fluorides is boosting prices for packaged aqueous hydrofluoric acid by 16¢/lb to $1.12 for drums of 70% material and by 12¢/lb to 87¢ for drums of 49% product. The firm says the packaged prices are based upon a minimum 40,000 lb orders. Solvay Fluorides also are raising prices of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride and aqueous hydrofluoric acid sold in 40,000 lb tank truck orders. Evonik Goldschmidt’s Industrial Specialties and Household Care business lines is raising prices for silicones and organic products—including quaternary compounds, surfactants, amine derivatives and specialty additives—between 5¢/lb and 15¢/lb.
