There’s good and bad news with liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor prices for computers. The bad news is that prices have started to increase. The good news is that price increases will be small, according to researcher WitsView in Taiwan.
Monitor prices had been dropping since November. For instance the price of a 19-inch desktop dropped from $138 in November to $123 in March due to overall weak demand. However in the first half of April, prices started to creep up as the average price as of April 14th was $125, says WitsView.
Prices for LCD monitors for computers will increase gradually in the second quarter. However, prices increased should be limited to 1-2%.
Prices should be more flat for panels used in notebook computers. LCD panels for televisions will continue to slide because of weak market demand and oversupply.
